Seasonal Calendar: Spring

Your customers’ thoughts are turning to spring-cleaning and the chance for outdoor family gatherings, so retailers should be focusing on Spring Cleaning, Table Sauces and Ice-Cream.


Make the most of Key Events

With events such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and two Bank Holidays, there’s plenty to celebrate and therefore plenty of potential sales across numerous categories – think home baking, chocolate, wine and flowers.   And why not organize an Easter Egg hunt for the local children?  Another great way to keep your store at the heart of the community.

Keep an eye on the weather too – think Ice-Cream and outdoor eating.  Focus on squeezy formats for Table Sauces as these are easily packed into picnic baskets and handy for barbecues.

Clean up with Spring sales

As the weather warms up, your customers’ thoughts will turn to Spring cleaning.  It’s a good opportunity for you to review your Household and Laundry fixtures and checking whether the range is working.  Are you stocking the best-sellers in each category?  Are there any slow sellers gathering dust and taking up valuable shelf space?  Customers tend to shop household cleaners by room so divide the fixture accordingly – kitchen, bathroom etc… For laundry, the first decision is format and then brand.  Make sure you’ve covering all stages of the wash – pre-wash, main wash and fabric conditioners and ensure you’re offering enough choice.

Cosy Nights In

While Spring does normally entail sunny weather, evenings will still be cool.  Nights in are the new going out and with the increasing popularity of on-demand TV, sporting or cultural events, retailers are presented with a great opportunity to bag some extra sales.  Why not create some in-store theatre with themed fixtures or promotions and promote it on Social Media.  Alternatively, inspire your customers with easy evening meal solutions – meat, vegetables and Cooking Sauces grouped together for ease of shop.
